The public transport work group is working on the future planning of public transport in Israel. This activity is looking to secure the importance of public transport in the overall planning of traffic infrastructure (both roads and rail) as well as other derivative requirements. Other issues that this working group is dealing with include technological innovations in the area on passenger safety, efficient fleet management, cooperation possibilities among traffic groups (such as trains, busses, taxis, etc.) including common tariffs, and payment methods. One key objective of this group includes the development of central information systems (Internet or cellular based) in order to allow users to plan their travel routs from start to finish in the most effective manner.
